TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - European Union Ambassador to Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam Vincent Piket, in his visit to the North Penajam Paser Regency in East Kalimantan said there is an EU investor that has shown interest in Indonesia’s new capital city project.
Because of this reason, he signalled that they plan on studying Indonesia’s construction plan, Antaranews reported on October 28. “Once the Law on the move of the Capital City is introduced, surely we will need to time study it and follow the protocol set by the government regarding the move,” he said.
However, Piket noted that the EU will wait for confirmation from the central government regarding the new capital city’s legal standing along with the office development cooperation pattern.
In his visit, Piket was welcomed by the North Penajam Paser Regent Abdul Gafur Mas’ud. Both also discussed trade opportunities between Indonesia and the European Union in the already established comprehensive trade deal.
“We could potentially open new partnerships in many aspects such as a broader sense in development technology. Insyallah (If God's Willing) his will have extraordinary effects for the local residents of the North Penajam Paser,” said the Regent.
