IIMS Surabaya 2021 Cancelled; Organizer Explains

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia International Motor Show Surabaya (IIMS Surabaya) this year, is officially cancelled. The annual automotive exhibition was scheduled to take place on November 3-7, 2021, at Grand City Convex, Surabaya, East Java.

The event organizer, Dyandra Promosindo, said the IIMS Surabaya 2021 had to be cancelled after several considerations. One of the main reasons was the pandemic that affected the preparation and capability of APM to partake in this event.

"We understood the desires and needs of those involved; be it the participating brands, until the visitors. But if the exhibition continues with the lack of several brands' participation, it will lose its essence," said Hendra Noor Saleh, the President Director of Dyandra Promosindo, in his official statement on Wednesday, October 27.

Aside from that, Hendra said his side has prepared for next year's IIMS Surabaya on November 2-6, 2022, at Grand City Convex.

Dyandra Promosindo ensures IIMS in other cities would continue as scheduled. IIMS Makassar will be held on December 1-5 at Celebes Convention Center. IIMS Outdoor in Joglosemar (Yogyakarta, Solo, Semarang) area will be held on December 29, 2021, to Januari 2, 2022, at Kampoeng Kopi Banaran. The exhibitions are expected to boost the sales and keep the existence of the automotive industry at the end of the year.
