LADI Resolves 24 Pending Matters With World Anti-Doping Agency

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Anti-doping Agency (LADI) in a virtual press conference on Tuesday claims to have resolved 24 pending matters that were believed to be the reason behind the sanctions imposed by the World Anti-doping Agency (WADA) against Indonesia.

LADI deputy Rheza Maulana explains that the 24 pending matters are mostly administrative issues.

“We have fulfilled our administrative duties even though there are some aspects that need to be met such as ratifying MoU with the entire sports classes,” said Maulana in the conference on October 26, Antaranews reported.

The signing of memorandum of understandings is deemed as one of the most critical aspects that need to be met by LADI as the agency is tasked to oversee every sporting activity, and that it is a requirement to obtain a status of compliance from WADA.

One of the most fatal mistakes, according to Rheza, is the lack of written agreements with the main sporting body which he said prevents WADA from monitoring LADI’s performance. He also revealed that the Indonesian anti-doping agency still needs to update its partnership with doping sample control labs in Qatar.

However, LADI was unable to initiate the signing as it had arrears since 2017. “That was what the government hastily tried to solve. It should have been investigated first, or audited before it was deposited. But the situation was urgent at the time, which is why it was deposited before being audited,” he added.

Indonesia is currently working with Japan’s Anti-doping Agency to act as a supervisor and needs to conduct doping tests to meet the minimum testing sample requirement established by WADA.
