Jokowi Gives Cash to Street Vendors in Kalimantan

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) gave out cash to street vendors and hawkers in the Selengkung Culinary Area of Tarakan City, North Kalimantan. Each one gets Rp1.2 million.
"We gave them this as capital assistance to the street vendors; Rp1.2 million in cash. We hope with this money they can develop their businesses amid the hardships of pandemic," the President said as broadcast via the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube channel, Tuesday , October 19.
Jokowi said that from his conversation with the hawkers, they said that they are quite optimistic that the economy will recover soon.
"Because their turnovers have climbed back up. We hope their businesses would be even better once things return to normal," Jokowi said.
The cash assistance program was Jokowi's last agenda during his work visit to North Kalimantan.
