TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe multi-level public mobility restriction (PPKM) policy status in Jakarta was dropped from level 3 to level 2 as noted in the Home Affairs Ministerial Instruction No. 53 of 2021 on the enforcement of COVID-19 PPKM Level 3-1 in Java and Bali.

“Jakarta areas under the level 2 are the Thousand Islands (Pulau Seribu), West Jakarta, East Jakarta, South Jakarta, North Jakarta, and Central Jakarta,” as read in the instruction released on October 18.

PPKM Level 2 is also enforced in the capital’s neighboring regions, including Tangerang City and South Tangerang City of Banten Province, Bogor City, Depok City, Bekasi City, and Bekasi Regency.

Meanwhile, Bogor Regency, Tangerang Regency, and several regions in Banten Province still have to implement PPKM Level 3.

For the past month, the decline in the status level for the agglomeration area of Greater Jakarta or Jabodetabek was hindered by several regencies and cities that have not yet achieved the vaccination target. Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, then revised the requirement. Regions that have not been able to achieve the COVID-19 vaccination target were excluded from the PPKM assessment in Greater Jakarta.
