TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Legal Aid Institute or LBH Jakarta was set to submit a red report card for Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan. According to the institute’s Head of Advocacy and Lawyers Nelson Nicodemus, the report card was the assessment of Anies' performance in leading the capital for the past four years.
The report card will be submitted at 1 p.m. today, October 18, 2021. Nelson said there were at least eight red notes in the report card. “It lists problems that LBH Jakarta is also dealing with,” he told Tempo via a phone call today morning.
Nelson explained that one of the eight red notes was about evictions. The Gubernatorial Regulation (Pergub) No. 207 of 2016 concerning the guideline of land use or control without entitled permits, he added, has not yet been revoked.
According to him, the Pergub legalized forced evictions. “Many people are affected by the evictions, that sometimes [it affects] one village with hundreds of families,” Nelson said.
Other than the Pergub, Nelson argued that there were still many issues related to the reconstruction of the evicted villages, such as in Kampung Akuarium in North Jakarta and Bukit Duri in South Jakarta.
LBH Jakarta lamented that many residents must rent a place in flats built by Jakarta Provincial Governments, "while in fact, they have lived there a long time,” Nelson said.
