TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Statistics Indonesia (BPS) recorded a US$16.32 billion-worth of imports in September, which is a slight drop compared to the previous month of August of US$16.68 billion.
BPS Head Marho Yuwono on Friday, October 15, said there was a 2.67 percent month-to-month reduction due to two aspects.
The first is an 8.9 percent reduction of oil and gas (Migas) imports and 1.8 percent reduction of non-oil and gas imports. This number annually is still considered to be a growth as the agency logged 40.31 percent year-on-year growth by September of 2021.
The majority of goods imported into Indonesia is still dominated by non-oil and gas items. Another largest import reduction came from two of Indonesia’s trade partners; China and India. With the former reported a reduction of up to US$518.2 million compared to August while the latter logged a reduction of US$148.8 million.
