TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo while visiting the future venue for the G20 Summit 2022 in Nusa Dua, Bali, said he was intent on using the global conference as a momentum to showcase Indonesia’s ability to handle the COVID-19 pandemic and revive the economy.
He addded that Indonesia must render the best services and performance as the holder of the 2022 G20 presidency.
“We should be able to use the G20 summit to showcase Indonesia's ability to control the COVID-19 pandemic in both the healthcare and the economy sides,” said the President on October 8, Antaranews reported. “We intend to show Indonesia’s leadership in the G20 presidency later on.”
He was accompanied by State Secretary Pratikno and Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi during the trip.
Jokowi called on the central government, regional governments, and the general public to collectively take control of the pandemic and conveyed his pleasure for Bali’s high vaccination scope.
“This morning I received a report that 98 percent of people in Bali have received their first vaccine dose and 79 percent have taken the second dose,” he added.
Indonesia will receive the G20 Summit presidency from Italy at the G20 Summit in Rome in October this year.
