TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe management of East Java’s Mount Arjuno Welirang tourism has again closed the hiking trails after the government declared Pasuruan Regency under the level 3 public mobility restriction or PPKM Level 3. The two entrances in Tambaksari of Purwodadi and Tretes of Prigen sub-district are temporarily off-limits to tourists starting October 5.

“Pasuruan Regency is under PPKM Level 3 in which tourism activities are not allowed. So, Arjuno Welirang hiking trails are closed,” said Head of the Grand Forest Park (Tahura) Raden Soerjo, Ahmad Wahyudi, on Wednesday, October 6.

Hiking activities on Mount Arjuno Welirang were reopened on September 19, 2021, through two entrances in the regency. However, referring to the Minister of Home Affairs’ Instruction No. 47 of 2021, tourism activities must be temporarily closed following the PPKM policies.

“Mount Arjuno Welirang hiking activities will be reopened by taking the government instructions into account,” Wahyudi said.

Mount Arjuno is located in the border area of Batu City, Malang Regency, and Pasuruan Regency. The three regions are still under PPKM Level 3.

Similar to Mount Arjuno Welirang, tourist activities in the Mount Bromo Tengger Semeru area are also temporarily closed again until an undetermined time after it was reopened to tourists in early September.
