TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned electricity company PLN stated it is moving quickly to deal with the electricity supply disruption that occurred today morning, October 7, starting at 07:18 local time in some areas of West Jakarta. The electricity disruption was caused by the fire at the Kebon Jeruk electricity powerhouse.
“We are trying to normalize [the electricity supply] as soon as possible by optimizing officers to shift the electricity lines to other sources,” said PLN UID Jakarta General Manager Doddy B. Pangaribuan in a written statement, Thursday.
The company minimized the impact of the power outage by moving the power source through another route. As of 08:45 local time, it claimed that the electricity in more than 70 percent of the affected areas has returned to normal.
PLN extends an apology for the inconvenience. “The cause of the fire is still under investigation,” Doddy added.
The affected areas include Kebayoran Lama, Kemanggisan, Meruya, Kedoya, Tanjung Duren, Kebon Jeruk, Daan Mogot, and their surrounding areas.
People can obtain more information related to electricity disruptions through the PLN Mobile app or call PLN’s Contact Center 123.
