Minister Erick Thohir Urges SOEs to Go Public

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The State-owned Enterprise (SOEs) Minister Erick Thohir in a virtual press conference urged SOEs to go public through IPO in the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) as a means to support the domestic market.
“We encourage many SOEs to go public as it is part of transparency and professionalism that would also support our own market,” said Erick on September 29.
The Minister believes this strategy will help boost Indonesia’s economic growth as he believes Indonesia has a large market that must be optimized under proper policies that would see economic growth domestically instead in other countries.
He also hopes the IDX can become Southeast Asia’s leading capital market. “We surely hope this can open the minds of public policy makers and show that our market is a valuable asset that is not just traded by many people,” said Erick Thohir.
