TEMPO.CO, Mataram The construction of the Mandalika Circuit continues and is almost completed ahead of the closing of the World Super Bike (WSBK) series and the MotoGP pre-season test. The preparations for the two agendas continued, including to welcome the spectators.

"This pre-season test is the most interesting," said Director of Strategy and Communication of the Mandalika Grand Prix Association Happy Harinto to reporters during a gathering with reporters at the Taku Hotel Restaurant & Bar Puri Rinjani, Monday, September 27, 2021.

The MotoGP pre-season test will take place at the Mandalika Circuit on 11-13 February 2022. After this pre-season test at Mandalika, the drivers will start their first race in Qatar. After that, they will return for the second time at Mandalika in March 2022.

The MotoGP event at the Mandalika International Street Circuit or the Mandalika Circuit will be attended by at least 1,200 riders, mechanical crews and media crews. While the audience capacity at the circuit reaches 168 thousand people, the quota still has to wait for the government's determination.

Happy admitted that his party benefited from comments from senior racer Mick Doohan who said that it was difficult to distinguish between racing and holidays at the Mandalika Circuit. ''It was a good campaign,''he said.

According to Happy, who is also the Deputy Chairperson of IMI for the field of international events, the presence of the MotoGP circuit in Mandalika is indeed for the sake of tourism. In just 1.5 years the construction of this circuit became the fastest in the world.

"Alhamdulillah (Praise to God), the construction of this circuit can be the fastest. To increase tourism," said Happy.

The organizers have also selected a number of Lombok souvenirs such as woven bags and ketak, woven hats, woven cloth, pearls, silver which will be sold to the audience or officials who come. The event at the Mandalika Circuit is expected to have an economic impact on the local community.
