TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police (Polri) Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim) has officially named insp. Gen. Napoleon Bonaparte a suspect of torture against fellow prison inmate Muhammad Kace. Police also named four other suspects.
“Investigators concluded that there are 5 suspects in the alleged beating and torture against M. Kosman or Kace,” said Bareskrim director of general crime Brig. Gen. Andi Rian on September 29.
Napoleon, who is serving time for his involvement in the Djoko Tjandra scandal, is charged with Article 170 jo 351 Criminal Code on torture and physical abuse.
Muhammad Kace, who is currently jailed for his case in religious blasphemy, received abuse while behind bars at the Bareskrim prison from Napoleon. Reports also suggest Kace was smeared with feces.
According to Andi Rian, the beating is driven by Kace’s crime that offended Napoleon’s religious belief as stated in the inmate’s open letter.
