A long covid is persistent symptoms or new symptoms that are experienced by Covid-19 patients that can last up to 28 days since the initial infection.
ENT specialist - Head and Neck Surgery Dr. Muslim Kasim explains that the persistent symptom from former Covid-19 patients, both acute and minor cases of covid, can maximize their physical recovery and reduce the long covid effects by following his 7 suggestions as follows:
-Maintain Nutritional Intake
The doctor in a social media post classifies nutritional intakes are food consumed that contain carbohydrate, fat, protein, minerals and vitamins which most importantly is balanced to specific individual needs. He strongly suggests avoiding high-sugar beverages, fast food, and packaged snacks.
-Get Enough Sleep
Getting yourself enough rest through sleeping can improve your immune system, maintain a stable body weight, and of course an overall healthier body. He recommends 7-8 hours minimum sleep time per day.
-Stress Management
He believes the main purpose of an effective stress management is by having a balanced life such as between work and social life.
-Routine Exercise
Slowly start exercising again and avoid extended periods of sitting down.
-Stay Away From Alcohol and Cigarettes
Consuming alcoholic beverages during the process of recovering from Covid-19 can introduce heart issues, increase blood pressure, weaken heart muscles, and increase the risk of exposed to heart illnesses and cancer.
-Maintaining Health Protocol
As long as pockets of infection are still there, the risk of re-infection still lurks. Therefore, make sure to always maintain health protocols
-Vaccinate
Unvaccinated survivors had a 2.3 times greater risk of re-infection. "The vaccine will protect, especially from the risk of serious illness or death due to Covid-19," said Muslim.
