Bank Indonesia Projects 0.01% Deflation in September

  • TEMPO.CO, JakartaBank Indonesia estimated a 0.01 percent deflation in September 2021. The projection is based on the price monitoring survey conducted in the fourth week of September.

    "Inflation is at a low and controlled level," the central bank's head of communications, Erwin Haryono, said in a press conference on Friday, September 24, 2021.

    With these developments, the inflation forecast for September 2021 on a calendar year basis is 0.83 percent (ytd), while on an annual basis the projection is 1.63 percent (yoy).

    Erwin said that BI will regularly strengthen coordination with the government and relevant authorities to closely monitor the spread of Covid-19, and what it does to the Indonesian economy.

    The central bank will also take coordinating measures for further policies needed to maintain macroeconomic and financial system stability. "As well as supporting Indonesia's economic growth to remain good and strong," Erwin said.
