KAI Shortens Jakarta-Yogyakarta Travel Time to 6 Hours

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned railway operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia or KAI was set to shorten the travel time between a number of regions by improving its infrastructure capability in commemoration of the firm's 76th anniversary that falls on September 28, 2021.
"KAI wants to move faster in serving the community with better quality. KAI continues to create various innovations as a form of improving service to customers," said the firm’s President Director Didiek Hartantyo in a written statement on Friday, September 24, 2021.
For the first phase, several trains that will have shorter travel time are KA Argo Bromo Anggrek serving Jakarta's Gambir to Surabaya's Pasar Turi, KA Argo Wilis serving Bandung-Surabaya's Gubeng route, KA Argo Lawu serving Gambir-Solo Balapan route, KA Argo Dwipangga serving Gambir-Solo Balapan route, and KA Taksaka serving Jakarta's Gambir-Yogyakarta route.
KAI recorded that the travel time from Gambir, Jakarta to Yogyakarta will be around 6 hours from previously 7 hours. As for the Bandung-Surabaya route, the travel time will be 48-minutes faster to only 9 hours and 55 minutes. While the travel time of KA Argo Bromo Anggrek Gambir-Surabaya's Pasar Turi route will now be 8 hours and 10 minutes.
Additionally, KAI launched Free Wi-Fi services in certain routes and live cooking services in KA Argo Lawu, Argo Dwipangga, Taksaka, and Argo Wilis. Various menus offered are fried rice, Javanese fried noodles, and beef sei rice. "KAI presents selected chefs who will cook on the train hygienically and professionally while maintaining safety," said Didiek.
