TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Traffic Directorate of Jakarta Metro Police expanded the area of crowd free night policy enforcement in the capital city and its vicinity. The policy to curb public mobility at night would be imposed in four more locations, totaling the area to eight.
The crowd free night policy has been enforced at Jalan Sudirman-MH Thamrin, SCBD, Kemang, and Jalan Asia Afrika. The new locations would be Alam Sutera, South Tangerang Bintaro, Tangerang city area, and Summarecon Bekasi.
"The CFN mechanism in four new locations would be the same; it applies from Friday to Sunday and holidays at 24:00-04:00," said Jakarta Traffic Police Director St. Commissioner Sambodo Purnomo Yogo, Thursday, September 23.
The additional of these locations is hoped to be able to reduce public activity outdoors, as Jakarta is still under level 3 Covid-19 restriction (PPKM).
The authorities close access roads to Jalan Sudirman and Thamrin at Arjuna Wijaya statue and Senayan Roundabout. Roads in SCBD area starting from Senopati, Plaza Mandiri, and Indonesian Stock Exchange entrance are also closed.
Meanwhile in Kemang and Asia Afrika, the closure is started from Prapanca, McDonald's, and Galur intersections.
The locations were closed since the authorities often found youth hanging out there and created crowds. The crowd free night implementation is expected to be able to suppress the Covid-19 transmission in Jakarta and the surrounding areas.
