TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Education Office said that Covid-19 cases have been found in six schools in the capital after the face-to-face learning (PTM) resumed with restrictions. Taga Radj Gah, head of Public Relations Inter-Agency Cooperation Subdivision at the Office, said that the six schools are now temporarily closed.
In-class learning activities resumed in Jakarta on August 30. Only 610 schools are allowed to open under strict health protocols.
"After we made evaluations, on September 22 it was found that seven schools have temporarily closed, and in six of them positive cases were found," he told Tempo on Thursday, September 23.
Taga said that only cases in five schools are suspected to have originated from household clusters. Meanwhile, one is suspected to be a school cluster, which is in Klender 03 Elementary in East Jakarta where one positive student spreads the virus to another student.
Listed below are the schools where Covid-19 cases were found:
1. Klender 03 Elementary: 2 positive students
2. 66 Vocational High School: 1 positive teacher
3. Pondok Ranggon 02 Elementary: 1 positive student
4. PGRI 20 Junior High: 1 positive teacher
5. 25 High School: 1 positive teacher
6. 20 High School: 1 positive student
This data was obtained from the evaluation results conducted by the Education Office as of September 22, 2021. In total, seven schools were closed—six where there were transmissions. One school, Jagakarsa 05 Elementary in South Jakarta, was closed for violating health protocols.
