PPKM Level Can't Be Lowered If Vaccination Does Not Hit Target: Health Ministry

23 September 2021 11:44 WIB

Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health's COVID-19 Vaccination, dr. Siti Nadia Tarmizi, M. Epid

TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Health Ministry’s spokesperson for COVID-19 Vaccination, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, said the level of public mobility restrictions (PPKM) could not be lowered if the vaccination does not reach the target.

“Since last week the coverage of the first dose of vaccination, including for the elderly, was added to the indicators of the PPKM level assessment,” said Nadia in an online press conference in Jakarta, Wednesday, September 22.

She explained the requirements for dropping PPKM level 3 to level 2 must be supported by the coverage of the first dose of vaccination at least 50 percent of the general population and the first dose of vaccination for the elderly at least 40 percent of the population.

Meanwhile, for dropping PPKM level 2 to level 1, the coverage of the first dose of vaccination must be 70 percent of the population in general and 60 percent of the elderly population.

“The assessment of the vaccination coverage in agglomeration areas will follow the regencies/cities with the lowest vaccination achievements, for example in the Greater Jakarta area,” Nadia said.

Nadia reiterated that the COVID-19 vaccination coverage in Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi has not reached 50 percent thus far so that the Greater Jakarta area or Jabodetabek was still under PPKM level 3 and could not yet enter level two.
