Millions More of Pfizer, AstraZeneca Vaccines Arrive in Indonesia

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia has once again received shipments of Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines under a dose sharing program through the COVAX Facility scheme from the United States government. Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi said there were 2,632,500 doses in the latest shipment.
The vaccine doses were gradually transported into two stages. The first stage on September 16, with 877,500 doses the second one on September 17, at 81,755,000 doses. This shipment is part of the U.S. government share of the total 4,644,900 doses Covid-19 vaccine.
“The schedule states that the third stage will see 1,140,750 on September 19 while the fourth stage will be sent on September 23 with additional 871,650 doses sent,” said the Minister in a press conference held virtually on September 17.
Indonesia also receives vaccine aid from the French government through the COVAX scheme.
Minister Retno Marsudi said the government will continue to secure vaccine doses to meet the national vaccination goal.
