Four Indonesian Films Pass Selection for Busan International Film Festival 2021

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Busan International Film Festival has announced that four Indonesian films have successfully passed this year's selection. They will be screened at the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), which will be held in Busan, South Korea from October 6 to 15.
The films are 'Seperti Dendam, Rindu Harus Dibayar Tuntas'; 'Yuni'; the short movie 'Laut Memanggilku'; and 'Penyalin Cahaya'. 'Seperti Dendam, Rindu Harus Dibayar Tuntas' and 'Yuni' are also made the cut for the selected for the 'A Window on Asian Cinema' program.
'Seperti Dendam, Rindu Harus Dibayar Tuntas' is a film adaptation of Eka Kurniawan's novel, directed by Edwin. The movie, which covers topics of toxic masculinity and pop culture, won a Golden Leopard at the Locarno International Film Festival in August.
'Yuni', by director Kamila Andini, talks about the dreams of and limitations faced by women in Indonesia. The movie was also selected to compete at the Toronto International Film Festival this September.
'Laut Memanggilku' is a short by Tumpal Tampubolon that tells the story of a child's longing. It was selected to enter the short film competition at BIFF's Wide Angle program.
'Penyalin Cahaya' by Wregas Bhanuteja has previously been announced to have passed the selection to enter the Busan International Film Festival's New Currents program.
