Bali Domestic Tourist Visitation Surges After Slackened PPKM Restriction

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Bali Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (Kadin) deputy of accommodation and tourism development I Made Ramia Adnyana said the slackened public activity restriction (PPKM) from level 4 to level 3 saw an increase in tourist visits, said to be 10-times more than the previous PPKM period.

“Domestic tourist visits are starting to grow. There’s a rise in air travel passengers destined for Bali from the 600 on average to 3,500-4,500 on a daily basis after the PPKM had been reduced to level 3,” said Ramia to Tempo on September 15.

The Indonesian government announced the public activity reduction on September 14, which is based on a plethora of indicators that corresponds to the handling of the Covid-19 pandemic.

This is a breath of fresh air after Bali suffered from significant reduction in tourist visitations for nearly 2 years due to global pandemic restrictions. He assures strict health protocols are enacted across the island’s hotels, tourists spots, and restaurants.

Ramia said Bali tourism businesses are now prepared to welcome and accommodate tourists parallel to the region’s plan to return to its normal form within 3-6 months.
