TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian National Police (Polri) spokesperson Brig. Gen. Rusdi Hartono assures that the movements of terrorist groups in the country are monitored closely by the police special counterterrorism force, Densus 88.
“The Densus 88 continues to work and monitor their movements. Not just the Jemaah Islamiyah (JI), but also the Ansharud Daulah,” Rusdi confirmed to Antaranews on September 13.
He suggests that terrorist groups are currently still active in the country as he acknowledged a previous warning conveyed by University of Indonesia (UI) observer on terrorism, Ridlwan Habib on Friday last week.
The expert’s warning came after the arrest against a terror suspect in Bekasi last Friday, which he said could potentially spark the group to retaliate.
He believes that the job of clamping down on terrorist groups should not exclusively be burdened on the Densus 88 but also society in the field that are able to monitor radical groups moving from one location to another.
