Police to Question Tangerang Prison Warden Today

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Metro Police's General Crimes Directorate is scheduled to question Victor Teguh Prihartono today. Victor is the warden of Lapas Class 1 Tangerang, which caught fire on September 8 last week, causing the deaths of more than 40 inmates.
"[Victor] will be questioned as a witness on Monday," the Police Headquarters' PR Department's head of public information, Comr. Ahmad Ramadhan, said today, September 13.
In addition to Victor, the police are also questioning 13 other witnesses, including the prison officer who were on duty during the fire.
Fire broke at Block C2 of Tangerang Prison at 01:45 on Wednesday, September 8. It took firefighters about two hours to put out the fire.
Block C2 housed 122 inmates. As of the publishing this article, the fire had killed 45 inmates and injuring 77 others.
The Police Headquarters PR chief, Brig. Gen. Rusdi Hartono, said that investigators will apply three articles on negligence in the Tangerang Prison case: Article 187 of the Criminal Code, Article 188, and Article 359 of the Criminal Code.
