TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Deputy Health Minister Dante Saksono Harbuwono said that Indonesia on Saturday received the arrival of two Covid-19 vaccines, namely Janssen and Sinovac.
Some 500,000 doses of Janssen vaccine were sent through a billateral partneship scheme with the Netherlands. "On behalf of the Indonesian government, we thank you for the support provided by the Dutch Government," said Dante, September 11.
Meanwhile, from the Sinovac, Indonesia received 2,075,000 doses of ready-to-use vaccines through the COVAX facility scheme.
In total, Indonesia has received more than 232 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine, either in bulk or vials, since the first batch arrived in December last year.
The Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) on September 7, issued the emergency use authorization for Janssen vaccine. "The vaccine will be administered to people above 18 years old with single intramuscular dose of 0.5 ml," Dante explained.
In the first stage, the vaccine would be distributed to the aglomeration areas. Dante Saksono Harbuwono said he is optimistic that the arrival of the two vaccines would accelerate vaccination program in the country. He hoped that in September, Indonesia would be able to administer 2 million doses per day.
Until September 10, the government has injected 17.1 million first doses and 40.8 million second doses of Covid-19 vaccines to the people across the country.
