TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko on Friday asserted he is not anti-criticism after filing a police report against two Indonesian Corruption Watch (ICW) researchers over alleged slander.
The two researchers, Egi Primayogha and Miftah, previously accused Moeldoko of having an alleged conflict of interest in the distribution of COVID-19 therapeutic drug Ivermectin.
“No, Moeldoko has never been anti-criticism. We have opened a program at the Presidential Staff Office to accommodate that,” he said on September 10 at the Police Criminal Investigation Division (Bareskrim) headquarters. “People who come to the headquarters and vent their frustration and hit the table, so no, far from anti-criticism.”
The retired military general reported the two for alleged slander after he claimed to have given the researchers a chance to prove their accusations against him. He also requested a public apology and that they must revoke their statement, which was not heeded.
“This is another issue entirely. It’s related to personal issues that must be cleared up. I have a wife and children, this would be a burden on them. I don’t want that,” Moeldoko added.
