TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Corruption Watch (ICW) on Wednesday officially reported Lili Pintauli Siregar to the criminal investigation police (Bareskrim). The anti-graft watchdog alleged the deputy of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) of committing a violation by communicating with an individual that the KPK was investigating.
ICW investigator Kurnia Ramadhana believed Lili Pintauli had blatantly violated Article 36 in conjunction with Article 65 of the Corruption Eradication Commission Law.
“The facts that were uncovered show that Lili had engaged in communication with another person who was being investigated by the KPK, and that is not only an ethical misconduct but also a legal violation,” said Kurnia at the Police Bareskrim headquarters on September 8.
Not only is ICW pushing for the KPK deputy to be processed, but they also urge the authorities to name Lili Pintauli as a suspect as soon as police are able to assess the pieces of evidence.
The KPK Deputy’s ethics came into question after Lili communicated with the former Mayor of Tanjungbalai M. Syahrial, who at the time was being investigated by the anti-graft commission for a case involving abuse of authority.
The KPK supervisory board eventually handed a guilty verdict for Lili Pintauli in an internal court of ethics. She is facing administrative sanctions in the form of a wage cut of 40 percent for 12 consecutive months.
