PeduliLindungi App Mandatory in Supermarkets Starting Sept. 14

TEMPO.CO, JakartaCoordinator of Java-Bali public mobility restrictions or PPKM, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, asserted that the PeduliLindungi Covid-19 surveillance app will be the main integrator for the Covid-19 pandemic control.

The app developed by the Communication and Information Ministry was expected to suppress coronavirus transmission in line with other strategies intensified by the government.

Luhut said the pandemic control strategies would be the main key to transitioning the pandemic into an epidemic. “The three strategies are a rapid boost in the vaccination coverage for all Indonesians, good testing-tracing-treatment, and high compliance with the 3M health protocols,” Luhut said on Monday evening, September 6.

Through the app which is required for entry into malls or shopping centers up to transportation nodes, the public could monitor risk zones and the number of people in a building. The government was then determined to expand its use in supermarkets and hypermarkets, starting September 14, as regulated in the Home Affairs Ministerial Instruction No. 39 of 2021 which applies to areas under PPKM Level 2, 3, and 4.

The government also guaranteed the safety of data security on the PeduliLindungi app. The data storage, Luhut said, was managed by the Communication and Information Ministry assisted by the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN).

“The government will continue to take corrective steps to further improve the app use,” said Luhut.
