TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Tangerang Police Drug Force Chief Adj. Commissioner Pratomo Widodo on Friday said the arrest on the popular standup comic Coki Pardede was based on an ongoing investigation against a drug dealer with the initials ‘W’. Coki was apprehended by police’s drug squad at his home on Wednesday.
“He was arrested at his house after he used the drug. We got a lead from the supplier and expanded the investigation from there on,” said on September 3.
According to Widodo, the drug dealer who supplied Coki with meth was arrested in Jakarta. After the interrogation, the authorities found out that the standup comedian was one of her customers.
Based on initial questioning, Coki claimed he had consumed methamphetamine for eight months and said he was not an avid user, defending that he used it to build more confidence performing in public. From several tests conducted by the police, Coki Pardede had traces of the drug in his urine sample. The police are currently interrogating the comic for further investigation.
“At one time, he stopped using methamphetamine but tried it again. His body craved for it,” said the police.
