TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has officially named Probolinggo Regent Puput Tantriana Sari as suspect of a case involving alleged abuse of authority within regional government selection processes in the East Java municipality.
The anti-graft agency’s deputy, Alexander Mawarta, on Monday announced the arrest of 10 suspects in a sting operation that took place at the early hours of Monday at 04:00 Western Indonesia Time (WIB).
“KPK named 22 people as suspects in this case,” he said in a press conference on Tuesday.
The Probolinggo Regent’s husband, Hasan Aminuddin, was also one of the people the agency nabbed. Aminuddin is an active House legislator from the NasDem Party.
It is said that both the Regent and her husband had sold positions within the Probolinggo government and set a tariff up to Rp25 million for the position as the municipality’s Village Head.
