Jokowi Announces Greater Malang and Greater Solo under PPKM Level 3

30 August 2021 20:54 WIB

Indonesian President Joko Widodo a.k.a. Jokowi.

TEMPO.CO, JakartaPresident Joko Widodo or Jokowi has announced that the status of public mobility restrictions or PPKM in Greater Malang and Greater Solo areas is now lowered from the strictest level 4 to level 3.

“The government has decided that starting from August 31 to September 6, 2021, more regions in the Java-Bali area enter level 3, namely Greater Malang and Greater Solo. So regions under PPKM Level 3 this week are the agglomeration areas of Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek), Greater Bandung, Greater Surabaya, Greater Malang, and Greater Solo. Greater Semarang has made it to level 2,” he said as broadcasted via the Presidential  Secretariat's YouTube channel, Monday, August 30.

Since July 21, PPKM Levels 4,3,2,1 in the Java-Bali area have been extended up to seven times. The government evaluated the restrictions once a week. Based on the assessment, the level status of an area can go up and down depending on the COVID-19 conditions of each region.

Last week, the PPKM Level 4 status in the Java-Bali area was lowered from 67 regencies/cities to 51 regencies/cities. The restriction status of Greater Jakarta or Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi dropped to level 3.

The government reportedly would continue to apply the multi-tiered level PPKM policy during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the level status of each region is subject to change according to the conditions of each region.
