TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Transportation Agency provided free school buses for students participating in face-to-face classes as the city decided to reopen schools starting today, August 30.
The agency’s head of bus school management, Ali Murtadho, said 70 buses had been mobilized to serve 20 regular routes and 13 zoning routes.
Ali said the buses would be available at the departure points and its pickup time would be adjusted to school hours. “We will evaluate it later. The number of fleets will be increased if it is not enough,” he said in a statement on Monday.
The bus capacity will be limited to 50 percent of the total capacity or 15 passengers per bus. Complying with the health protocols of wearing masks, washing hands with sanitizer is mandatory, he informed.
Students are also not allowed to chat, eat, or drink during travel. “Each bus will have two officers tasked to remind students about the health protocols,” Ali said.
The provincial government has today kick-started face-to-face learning at 610 educational units ranging from early childhood to senior high school/vocational schools. The on-site study was noted in the Jakarta Gubernatorial Decree No. 1026 of 2021 concerning the level 3 public mobility restrictions or PPKM Level 3.
