TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Starting November 1, 2021, Facebook-owned messaging app WhatsApp will stop working on 43 smartphone models, both Android and iOS, but in general the affected devices will be the ones with operating systems equal to or lower than Android 4.0.3 and iPhone’s iOS 9 and earlier versions.
The messaging app, in its website’s faq section, shared a list of iOS and Android devices which will no longer work since November 1 and no longer receive support from the application and will be incompatible with WhatsApp.
Even though WhatsApp will no longer support some older devices, it does not mean that the messaging app will abruptly stop working.
Actually, the notable issue is that computers unsupported by WhatsApp will not be able to access security updates and make them desirable targets for hackers, and leave their personal users data vulnerable to exploitation.
Android-supported phones that will eventually be left without the messaging app are as follows: Samsung: Galaxy Trend Lite, Galaxy Trend II, Galaxy SII, Galaxy S3 mini, Galaxy Xcover 2, Galaxy Core and Galaxy Ace 2.
LG: Lucid 2, Optimus F7, Optimus F5, Optimus L3 II Dual, Optimus F5, Optimus L5, Optimus L5 II, Optimus L5 Dual, Optimus L3 II, Optimus L7, Optimus L7 II Dual, Optimus L7 II, Optimus F6, Enact , Optimus L4 II Dual, Optimus F3, Optimus L4 II, Optimus L2 II, Optimus Nitro HD and 4X HD, and Optimus F3Q.
