Anies Baswedan Invites Faction Leaders for Talks on Formula E

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan invited leaders of the political party’s factions at the Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) to meet last night, August 26. According to Golkar faction Secretary Judistira Hermawan, Anies explained the city’s plan to host Formula E electric car racing.

“I think last night's meeting results are constructive. Pak Anies explained several things, not only Formula E but also issues related to the city's development,” said Judistira to Tempo on Friday, August 27.

Judistira said Anies still needed to explain details of the world's event plan to the council. Thus, during the meeting, he asked the governor for the next meetings. “And Pak Anies agreed. Inshallah, there will be other meetings for further explanations,” he said.

From photos of the meeting received by Tempo, no PDIP and PSI representatives were present. Only seven faction leaders met with the governor’s invitation. Among them were PAN advisor Zita Anjani, Democrat Party advisor Misan Samsuri, and Gerindra Party advisor Mohamad Taufik who serve as Deputy Chairpersons of the Jakarta DPRD.

Gerindra faction chairman Rani Mauliani, PKS faction secretary Achmad Yani, Golkar faction chairman Basri Baco, Democrat faction chairman Desie Christhyana Sari, NasDem faction chairman Wibi Andrino, and PKB faction secretary Yusuf were also present in the meeting.

The meeting initiated by Anies Baswedan was held on the same day after PDIP and PSI members agreed to use interpellation rights regarding Formula E implementation in the capital city. Members of both parties collected signatures as a requirement for applying interpellation rights yesterday afternoon at the Jakarta DPRD Building.
