TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said in an online discussion on Thursday, August 26, 2021, that it would require at least USD 266 billion, or roughly IDR 3,461 trillion, to fund the government's efforts to overcome climate change until 2030.
This amount is an increase compared to the previous indicator of USD247.3 billion to reduce 1,081 million tons equivalent of CO2.
"This is a fantastic number and it is impossible to exclusively rely on the State Budget," Sri said in the online discussion.
Sri also revealed that the government has already marked State Budget spendings to fulfill the climate change commitment since 2016, and for the past five years had allocated 4.1 percent from the State Budget for climate change mitigations.
Moreover, she explained that the mitigation spendings from state ministries and institutions could only cover 21 percent of spendings in order to reach Indonesia's goal pledged in the Paris commitment of achieving net zero-emission in 2060.
