TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe PeduliLindungi application revealed that nearly 5.6 million people were trying to enter malls as of Sunday, August 22, 2021. Some of these people welcomed the easing of the Implementation of Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM) in a number of regions in Indonesia, especially Java-Bali.

The data was conveyed by the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan at the 43rd Anniversary of the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology or BPPT, Monday, August 23, 2021. He said that the conditions for downloading the application were connected to SiLacak and the network New All Record (NAR). The Ministry of Health, has run in many locations such as stations, airports, shopping centers (malls) and industries.

From the nearly 5.6 million people who were monitored to 'return' to the mall, Luhut added, as many as 15,000 of them had been rejected. Those rejected are the people who have not received the vaccination.

"If we say 50 percent of them are positive (Covid-19), that means 7,000 people who might create new clusters of infection cases if not prevented," he said.

According to him, the government is preparing further steps to anticipate potential new outbreaks during the current PPKM easing, namely early monitoring of people infected with Covid-19. He also added that his projection is that there will be one hundred million people registered in the PeduliLindung application by the end of the year.

Based on Tempo.co's experience, the requirements to enter a mall using the PeduliLindungi application are quite easy. Just use it to scan the QR Code at the entrance. If eligible, the scan results will allow the user to enter or check in the mall.

The PeduliLindungi application has since tracked the user's whereabouts at the mall until checking out again by re-scanning the QR Code at the exit.
