TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian has allowed wedding receptions to be held in areas with the status of Level 3 Implementation of Restrictions on People Activities or PPKM.

The government has determined that Jakarta will enter the PPKM Level 3 period on August 24-30, 2021.

"The wedding reception can be held with a maximum of 20 invitations," as stated in the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 35 of 2021.

This instruction regulates the Implementation of Level 4, Level 3, and Level 2 PPKM in the Java and Bali Regions. Tito signed the instruction on August 23, 2021.

Dine-in at the wedding reception is not permitted. Tito reminded that the reception event should still apply stricter health protocols.

Previously, wedding receptions were not allowed as long as Jakarta was still implementing the Level 4 PPKM. Wedding receptions were included in the category of activities that could cause crowds. This policy is contained in the Decree of the Governor of Jakarta Number 987 of 2021 concerning PPKM Level 4.

Yesterday, August 23, the government announced the extension of the PPKM in Jakarta to level 3. President Joko Widodo announced that the assessment for the Jabodetabek agglomeration area had dropped from level 4 to level 3. Thus, the Jabodetabek area no longer runs PPKM Level 4, but PPKM Level 3.

"The agglomeration areas of Jabodetabek, Bandung, Surabaya and several other urban areas can already be at PPKM Level 3 starting August 24, 2021," Jokowi said as broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube channel, Monday, August 23, 2021.
