Megawati Dejected by Waves of Criticism Towards President Jokowi

TEMPO.CO, JakartaPDIP chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri in a written statement on Wednesday on the construction of protected temple area in Bali said she is heartbroken by the waves of criticism made against President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, which in her terms made the President lose weight.

“Look at pak Jokowi. I often fall into tears, he is so thin. Why? Because he is thinking about us, thinking about his people,” she said in the event that was held virtually on August 18.

Prior to mentioning this, Megawati initially talked about the country’s independence that was commemorated for the 76th time on August 17 and how young that is compared to developed countries such as the U.S., Russia, or China.

She called for everyone to help build Indonesia with the spirit that is mentioned in Indonesia’s national anthem before shifting her focus on Jokowi and establishing that PDIP party members are in full support for him.

“I am extremely saddened when many people seem to slander pak Jokowi as a failed president and failed government,” said the fifth Indonesian president.

Megawati did not hold back and challenged her critics to face her or the President upon stating their criticism.

Present at the launch of the construction of the protected Besakih temple area in Bali were Bali governor I Wayan Koster, deputy Tjkorda Oka Artha Sukawati, and Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono.
