TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko has spoken up about the absence of corruption eradication issues from President Joko Widodo or Jokowi's annual state of the nation address at the 2021 People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Annual Session. He said that corruption eradication remains a government’s top agenda.
“We should be concerned about what the President has done in this context. So don’t just express concern over what’s on his mandate (speech),” said Moeldoko in his statement on Wednesday, August 18.
Amid the Covid-19 pandemic, Moeldoko added, the state head always warned his cabinet not to let anyone ignore other big agendas, including the fight against corruption and preventing corrupt actions.
He said the President’s seriousness in combating corruption was also shown in a limited cabinet meeting chaired by the latter in July 2021, in which the main agenda was to ensure that all cabinet officials pay attention to the corruption perception index and public services.
Additionally, Moeldoko informed the application of the online single submission (OSS) proved the government’s commitment to adopting open government and intention to stay away from corruption practices.
“People need to understand that the real steps in preventing corruption and taking action against corruption are clearly explained by the President,” said Moeldoko.
