Tangerang Loosens PPKM Restriction as Malls, Houses of Worships Reopen

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - As the Java - Bali level 4 public activity restriction (PPKM) is officially extended with loosened stipulations on Tuesday, the Tangerang City and Regency administrations have permitted malls and shopping centers to open under strict 50 percent capacity.
Tangerang mayor Arief R Wismansyah announced that malls will be allowed to operate under a time limit from 10AM to 8PM local times with employees and general visitors required to have a Covid-19 vaccination certificate through the PeduliLindungi tracing app.
Citing Antaranews, Dine-ins are reintroduced again under 25 percent capacity limit after it was banned to stop the spread of the coronavirus but children aged 12 and below will not be permitted to enter.
“No activities that generate crowds shall take place,” said the Tangerang regent Ahmad Zaki Iskandar on Tuesday noon, after confirming that regencies will follow the same rule to help local economies.
Ahead of the new regulation changes, the Tangerang Regency administration will also allow houses of worship to open under a 50 percent capacity limit with strict health protocols implemented by visitors. These specific PPKM restriction loosening will be dissected to business and houses of worship management.
However, tourism sites and schools in this Covid-19 ‘orange zone’ will still be closed during the extension of the level 4 public activity restriction that is scheduled to last until August 23.
