Govt' Reportedly Will Extend PPKM Again

16 August 2021 19:42 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe government reportedly will announce the continuation of the level 4 public mobility restriction (PPKM Level 4) policy for the Java-Bali regions tonight, August 16, 2021.

Communications and Informatics Minister Johnny G. Plate said the Covid-19 restrictions policy would still be extended. "The PPKM will be extended for the agglomeration area of Jakarta. It will be evaluated again next week. There have been many improvements in Java and Bali," said Johnny via a text message on Monday.

The Covid-19 restrictions policy has been enforced for the past four weeks. The government initially implemented Emergency PPKM on July 3-20 following a significant spike in Covid-19 cases.

The government then changed the term to PPKM Level 4 on July 20-25 and extended it on July 26-August 2, August 3-9, and August 10-16 which was the fourth extension period. During these extensions, there have been a number of rule adjustments in various sectors.

However, Johnny stopped short of detailing the upcoming extended policy, including whether or not there will be other adjustments to the regulations in line with the improvement in the Covid-19 trend.

The previous cabinet meeting on August 9 decided that the evaluation for PPKM in Java-Bali would be conducted once a week, while for those outside Java-Bali regions, it would be conducted every two weeks.
