Komnas HAM Asks President Jokowi to Take Over TWK Process

Jokowi, as the president is known, cited the introduction last month of tighter social restrictions, which require staff in non-essential sectors to work from home and limit the operations of malls or restaurants, as examples of the balance. TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) asked President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo to take over the entire assessment process of the Nationality Knowledge Test (TWK) for employees of the Corruption Eradication Commission. Komnas HAM found 11 human rights violations during the process which resulted in the dismissal of the 57 employees.

"We recommend that the President, as the holder of the highest government power and the highest civil service officer in this republic, take over the entire process of the TWK assessment for KPK employees," said Komnas HAM chairman Ahmad Taufan Damanik at a press conference on Monday, August 16, 2021.

Damanik said that the Komnas HAM recommended five actions. First, restoring the status of KPK employees who were declared ineligible to be appointed as state apparatus or ASN in line with the President's instructions and the Constitutional Court's ruling.

Komnas HAM, he said, also asked the President to evaluate the entire assessment process, train all ministerial and institutional officials involved in the TWK process, carry out training on the strengthening of nationalism, law, and human rights, and restore the good name of employees who were claimed to be ineligible in the TWK process.

Damanik said Komnas HAM would soon send the report to President Jokowi, hoping the state head would heed and immediately follow up on the recommendation.
