TEMPO.CO, JakartaA total of 5 million Sinovac vaccines landed at Soekarno - Hatta Airport on Monday, August 16, 2021. In August, Indonesia will reportedly receive 70 million Covid-19 vaccines.

The operation assistant to the Indonesian National Military (TNI) Commander, Mayor General Syafruddin, said that the vaccine arrival would further support the government to reach the vaccination target.

"The vaccination program will be accelerated and expanded with a target of 2 million doses per day," said Syafruddin in an online press conference via the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube account.

To date, Indonesia has received 190,000,000 doses, both in the form of raw materials or bulk and ready-to-use vaccines.

Syafruddin explained that the TNI had held internal vaccine programs in 803 hospitals and health facilities throughout the archipelago and in collaboration with private sectors.

"As a result, 8,489,210 people have received the first dose and 1,346,406 people have got the second dose. TNI deploys 10,867 personnel as vaccinators," he added.

In August, the government is planning to administer 2 million doses per day. "To date, more than 53 million people have been vaccinated with the first dose. This means about 25 percent of the vaccination target of 208 million Indonesians in order to build herd immunity," Syafruddin said.
