TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Metro Jaya Police on Friday announced that the vaccination in the capital city had reached 98.1 percent, or nine million Jakarta residents. Metro Jaya Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Yusri Yunus said his institution was aiming at 100 percent vaccinated people in Jakarta before the commemoration of the country’s Independence Day on August 17.
“There are still around 180 thousand Jakartans who have not been vaccinated,” he said on Friday, August 13.
In order to achieve this goal, Yusri said the police in tandem with the Jakarta provincial government would kickstart a door-to-door vaccination program at residential areas.
“Later on the people who have been vaccinated will have a special sticker placed at their homes, which will make it easier for officers to track down residents that have not been vaccinated,” he said.
National Police Chief Gen. Listyo Sigit Prabowo introduced the Merdeka Vaccination program at the Metro Jaya Police headquarters on August 1, 2021, asserting that herd immunity in society would be a good sign for the nation's economic growth.
