TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan named the Covid-19 funeral blocks at Rorotan Cemetery, North Jakarta, Syuhada and Santo Yosef Arimatea.
The name Syuhada, which is the call for people who died in the way of Allah, is for the Muslim block. Meanwhile, the Christian block is named Santo Yosef Arimatea or Saint Joseph of Arimathea, who played an important role in the burial of Jesus Christ.
“In every conversation with residents who see off their family members to be buried, I always convey words of support. Takziyah actually means support, comfort,” said Anies via his Instagram account on Friday, August 13.
From there, Anies gave the name of the funeral blocks with a message of glory, instead of associating it with victims or let alone numbers.
Anies emphasized that the city administration had never reduced the data on deaths caused by Covid-19.
“The death case during the pandemic is always reported as is, both the data based on the Health Ministry’s criteria and the Covid-19 burial protocol. Because according to WHO, everything must be recorded and reported,” he said.
Anies Baswedan also said Jakarta applies science, uses correct and accurate data, as well as upholds data transparency in the principle of Covid-19 handling.
