TEMPO.CO, JakartaSpokesman for the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Jodi Mahardi, said the government uses three indicators for the implementation of the public mobility restrictions or PPKM. They are health, economy, and social dynamics.

“This surely can change very quickly. So we have to consider measures and evaluate them regularly every week based on the WHO references that we adopt,” Jodi told Tempo on Sunday, August 8.

The government first enforced the Emergency PPKM on July 3 until July 20, 2021. After that, the extension under the name PPKM Level 4 was carried out three times; on July 21-25, July 26-August 2, and August 3-9.

Today, the third extension of the Covid-19 restrictions will end. Jodi said there was no certainty whether the restrictions would be resumed or not.

Although the pandemic handling in Java-Bali could be said to be somewhat under control, the Covid-19 trends outside Java-Bali have actually increased. “Thus the government will be careful in making adjustments to each sector,” said Jodi about the fate of the continuation of PPKM.
