TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said that the 7.07 percent economic growth in the second quarter of 2021 indicated that Indonesia's economic recovery strategy is heading towards a good direction.
"The actual economic growth in the second quarter of 2021 was 7.07 percent (yoy), a continuation of the improvements that have occurred until the first quarter of 2021," Sri Mulyani said at a press conference, Friday, August 6.
Sri said that global economic performances, government countercyclical policies, as well as accommodative policies in monetary and financial sectors were able to push the national economic recovery forward.
Sri Mulyani said that the 9.38 percent spending growth in the first half had driven the GDP quite significantly in terms of expenditure.
In the second quarter, government consumption grew 8.06 percent (yoy), while public consumption, which contributed some 55 percent to the GDP, grew 5.93 percent.
Investments, Sri added, increased by 7.54 percent. Both export and import performances grew significantly by 31.78 percent and 31.22 percent, as global economic performance improved and commodity prices increased.
"In the future, the contribution of non-state budgets in driving economic growth is expected to be larger, along with the continuous process of national economic recovery," the minister said.
