TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Pandjaitan, on Friday, iterated his hopes that the initial public offering (IPO) by Indonesian ecommerce Bukalapak will motivate other tech companies in the country to do the same.
“Hopefully with the IPO, Bukalapak can spread its positive impact on innovation and technology for the Indonesian public and become a motivation for other tech companies,” said Luhut Pandjaitan in a press conference held virtually on August 6.
He said the 11 years of Bukalapak’s journey in Indonesia shows that the business performance in this sector will only grow bigger in the future and provide better opportunities that will benefit the general public, especially people who run MSMEs.
Minister Pandjaitan claimed there are over 13 million MSMEs that have partnered with the Indonesian ecommerce brand.
“I hope Bukalapak can continue helping accelerate tech developments and financial inclusions for its partners which would eventually increase their business capacity,” said the Minister.
PT Bukalapak.com (IDX: BUKA) is officially registered in the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) Development Board. It is the 28th company to be listed by the IDX in 2021.
