TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Finance Ministry’s Fiscal Policy Agency Head, Febrio Kacaribu, said the economic growth of 7.07 percent in the second quarter of 2021 confirmed the government's predictions.
“This growth is in line with previous predictions made by the Finance Ministry. This proves that strategies on the economic recovery have been running and are eventually working,” said Febrio in a written statement on Thursday, August 5, 2021.
He said the economic recovery is underway evenly. The consumption, investment, export, and import experienced high growth. “People's confidence to carry out activities continues to increase and encourage growth in household consumption,” he added.
According to Febrio, the government also supported the continuation of economic recovery efforts and improvement of community welfare indicators.
“The government's countercyclical spending policies, particularly through the National Economic Recovery Program (PEN), have been on track in protecting the poor and vulnerable groups from being affected [by the pandemic], as well as stimulating the business sector to return to positive growth in Q2/2021,” he said.
Febrio also said that the government responded to the trend in rising Covid-19 cases due to the Delta variant quickly and measurably so that potential impacts could be mitigated both in protecting the community and maintaining the stronger momentum of economic recovery.
