TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia continues to log high numbers of new Covid-19 infections. On Wednesday noon, August 4, authorities reported 35,867 new cases of coronavirus infection, almost 2,000 more than yesterday's record.
Indonesia now has a total caseload of 3,532,567 since the virus was first identified in the nation in early March last year.
The number of people who lost their coronavirus battles also increased compared to yesterday. Indonesia reported 1,747 deaths over the last 24 hours, 149 more than yesterday. This brings the nation's Covid-19 death toll to 100,636.
However, today's number of recoveries was 34,251 cases, almost 3,000 more than yesterday's. Indonesia now has 2,907,920 Covid survivors.
The Indonesian government as of today is still monitoring 146,820 people suspected of having contracted the virus.
